TURKU SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS, DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR POSITIONS OF UNIVERSITY LECTURER (two permanent positions, beginning from August 1st 2018)

The positions are positioned in the Department of Accounting and Finance, in the field of accounting and finance. Research and teaching in accounting and finance covers the areas of management accounting, financial accounting (including auditing) and finance. The fundamental issues within accounting and finance are profitability of economic units, cost efficiency, the balance of finance and producing and communicating information to meet the needs of investors, financial markets, and other corporate stakeholders. According to the rules of procedure of the University of Turku, person selected for the University Lecturer’s position is required to have an appropriate doctoral degree and the ability to give high-quality research-based teaching and to supervise theses. When assessing the merits of the applicants for the post of University Lecturer, scholarly work, practical expertise in the field in question, teaching experience and teacher training, ability to produce study materials, other teaching merits, and a teaching demonstration will be taken into account.

The duties of the University Lecturer include high-quality scientific research and teaching in the field of accounting and finance. The duties include teaching and supervision according to degree programmes, the planning and development of teaching, taking part in post-graduate education, administrative duties as well as international cooperation. University Lecturers participate in operational development of the department as well as planning and carrying out research projects.

The applicants are expected to have a research orientation which is in line with the research profile of the subject and experience in teaching and supervision. Both positions require good skills in oral and written English. One of the positions requires also good skills in oral and written Finnish. The qualification requirements of the position are described in the rules of procedure of the University of Turku.

The salary for the posts is determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel. The task specific salary component for the University Lecturer is 2 865,30 – 3851,33 euro per month (according to level 5–7 of the job demands chart). In addition, a personal work performance component will be paid. The personal work performance component is a maximum of 46.3 % of the task specific salary component.

The post is subject to a four month trial period.

The academic portfolio should follow the guidelines of the University of Turku.
